Absolutely, yes. We strongly recommend that everybody that’s out there has some form of will in place because even if all of your assets are jointly owned and held together by you, your spouse or another loved one, they key to preparing a properly drafted will are the following things.
Number one, it’s gonna allow you to select, then put down guardians for your minor children and hopefully you’ll never need them but it’s important to be able to designate and identify who they might be. Additionally, as many of us get older and older in our times, we’re gonna need to pick people that might have to take care of elderly parents. That’s important to be able to put in a will so that somebody else can pick up the ball from there and know where to go after that.
The other thing is, is a will will do a great job in helping you divest of personal heirlooms, jewelry, personal property, cars and other things that aren’t necessarily and totally identified in other areas that you might have a deeded property or stock certificates or things of that particular nature.
Finally, the really good thing about having a will is that it really gets you a chance to think about who you wanna pick as your personal representative. That person that’s basically going to be overseeing and administrating your entire estate from beginning to end is somebody that you really want to entrust can take care of your particular goals, objectives and priorities after you have passed on.
